USING CREAKBOX BASSLINE

GETTING STARTED :

Load up Creakbox Bassline and hit play on your sequencer. Turn on your strobe light, bust out some glow sticks and start tweaking the sweet sweet knobs. Load up some effects like distortion, delay and reverb and goto town. And when you think you are ready, try playing with the step sequencer so you don't sound like a clown playing preset groovebox patterns.

LIMITATIONS:

This version of Creakbox Bassline only stores one pattern in memory. You can edit the pattern while playing but you may notice sometimes a step you changed gets reset. To protect the engine from crashing the engine copies the pattern data into a play buffer and plays it from there. If your changes didn't make it into the play buffer then you will notice some steps resetting. This is normal. The alternative is risking a nice crash. If the engine is not running this is not an issue.

Creakbox Bassline has only been tested with 4/4 timing. Anything else and you are taking a risk with your sanity. Just don't do it.

THE HISTORY OF CREAKBOX:

The original Creakbox was programmed in Delphi by Frank Reitz. It was a standalone non realtime application that let you edit a pattern with a cryptic editor and export a raw audio file. It sounded unreal. Martin Robaszewski contacted Frank and offered to port it to a VST plugin. The core engine was ported to a realtime C++ VST instrument over two weekends. Then the real work began and a new interface was designed. Brittnell Anderson stepped in to supply some amazing graphics which gave Creakbox a very sharp and modern look.
